Imrecon

What we do E-mail

Imrecon advises on the economics and the mechanics of regulating firms, reforming markets and incentivising enterprise.

We understand and model how policy interacts with reality and affects commercial and other decisions.

We help policy makers make better policy and we help those affected by regulation influence and respond to policy.

We help regulators, the regulated, users, investors and governments in sectors such as airports, railways, energy networks, concessions, media.

We bring the highest quality of analysis and insight to policy issues.

How we work

At Imrecon, we bring together economics, financial analysis and modelling for policy makers and businesses to make more confident decisions in an uncertain world. We work closely with our clients, often working as a more integral part of a decision team than usual for external consultants.  We use rigorous methods creatively, interactively with the team, to help the client analyse and understand the dynamics of their financial performance or economic environment and gain insights into how their decisions will interact with or change those dynamics.  We help give decision makers a more richly informed view of the decision issues and a new clarity in their thinking.

Where we work

Imrecon is a leading provider of regulatory economics consultant and forensic economic services, as well as regulatory financial modelling and has developed the core models behind the price control decisions for eight reviews in the UK and Ireland since 1999. Imrecon advises regulators, government departments, companies and other bodies, principally in the UK and Ireland, but also elsewhere in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.  We have experience of advising on regulatory economics in airports, water, energy, post and rail sectors, giving written and oral economic expert witness evidence in court hearings, and helped decision makers in other contexts where high quality analysis is required.

Risk-aware advice

We have learned that risk-aware and risk-based analysis provides powerful insights for policy and business decisions: out of the field of all possible outcomes, the objective is to increase the likelihood of the better ones.

Imrecon is the policy advisory practice of leading regulatory economics consultant Ian Rowson. Formerly known as IMR Solutions, the practice has been advising clients in areas such as regulatory financial modelling and acting as an economics expert witness since 1999.
